H2 promotion campaign concludes at EMEX in London

November 22, 2023

In the context of the global decarbonization of energy markets, hydrogen is gaining increasing importance. Therefore, 2G is particularly excited about the opportunity to commission the first hydrogen-powered CHP (Combined Heat and Power) system in the UK, contributing significantly to the strengthening of the 2G brand worldwide.

Installed at Kirkwall Airport on the Orkney Islands in Scotland, an agenitor 404 H2 with an electrical power output of 115 kW and a thermal power output of 128 kW has been put into operation. This installation plays a crucial role in decarbonizing the airport.

2G Energy travelled the length and breadth of the UK from the 10th to 22nd May 2023, transporting their innovative 100% hydrogen fuelled CHP engine across the UK to industry and policymakers to discover how hydrogen power can fuel the journey to net zero. This ‘Road to Net Zero Tour’ was the first of its kind to showcase a 100% hydrogen-powered CHP engine, providing business leaders, national and local policymakers and planners the opportunity to see firsthand and understand how a hydrogen CHP engine works.

The ceremonial inauguration of the hydrogen CHP unit took place on November 22, 2023, at the Energy Management Exhibition (EMEX) in London. The participation of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Mr. Miguel Berger, along with his colleague, Mr. Marius Kretzschmar, emphasized the significance of the project for Germany and the United Kingdom and showcased their commitment to global cooperation for the future of energy.

The hydrogen partnership between the UK and Germany aims to promote renewable hydrogen technologies, create jobs, encourage low-carbon investments, and explore new markets. This project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action as part of the Renewable Energy Solutions Programme of the German Energy Solutions Initiative.

As part of the program, reference plants are established in target markets and marketed effectively with the support of the German Energy Agency. Information dissemination and training activities are conducted to promote the sustainability of market entry and demonstrate the quality of climate-friendly technologies from Germany.
